The Christmas Short Story Competition Posted November 16th 2014
It’s time for the Thurrock Writers’ Circle 2014 Christmas Short Story Competition. The winning stories will be announced at the last meeting on December 10th.
Theme – The story is to be set at Christmastime.
Eligibility – Open to members of the Thurrock Writers’ Circle. Multiple submissions are encouraged.
Word count
Short Stories – up to 1000 words.
Entry fees - Fee for each entry is £1, payable at TWC meetings on submission of your story.
Closing Date – November 26th 2014.
Manuscripts - Manuscripts can be submitted at TWC meetings.
Short Story manuscripts - Entries must be typed in double spacing on single sides of A4 paper with a front page stating the entrants name, address, phone number and email address. Please also state the story title and the word count.
Competition Judging – Judge to be announced.

The First Lillian Rose Troy Writers’ Competition Posted June 22nd 2014
The Thurrock Writers’ Circle 2014 Summer Short Story and Poetry Writing Competition will be dedicated to Lillian Rose Troy. Circle members are called upon to put fingers to keyboard and enter our summer contest with fiction and autobiographical short stories of up to 1000 words or poems of up to 32 lines on the theme of memories. The winning stories and poems will be announced in September.

Eligibility – Open to members of the Thurrock Writers’ Circle. Multiple submissions in both categories are encouraged.

Short Stories – up to 1000 words (autobiographical and fiction)·
Poetry – up to 32 lines
Entry fees - Fee for each entry is £1, payable at TWC meetings on submission of your story or poem.
Prize - First prizes will be awarded in each category, the value depending on the number of entries.
Closing Date – August 20th 2014.
